Every day, workers of the ministry meet children to provide first aid, food and establish relationships with them. Once a month we arrange for joint visitation of homeless children with police and other officials of the Kyiv government.

Every year the team selects and prepares over forty children for the summer camp for homeless children called The Island of Treasures.

From this camp many children enter long term rehabilitation programs which may ultimately lead them into the mainstream of productive society.

During the life of our department there have been thousands of homeless children with whom we have established contact and provided assistance. Hundreds of children have returned to their parents, been placed in foster families or placed in safe orphanages. Further, our ministry has facilitated medical treatment for serious problems such as gangrene, poisoning, severe frostbite and even H.I.V. Thanks to the concern and devoted work of these workers many children's lives have been saved.

The department has now established a telephone line where children may call at any time and receive answers to important problems of life as well as assistance in times of crisis. This ministry also offers advice to parents or close relatives who are in a distressful situation with their children. In some cases the counselor can advise colleagues who work on the streets to lend assistance when possible.
