Home page / Our work / Family ProgramProgram Description
Married couples having not more than three children are eligible for this program. Children who have passed the nine month rehabilitation program at our Center can be taken into a family. The total number of children in family can not exceed ten.For children to have a clear idea of family life, the program follows there principles: - The father must be employed to provide for the family - The mother must devote herself to the children's education - A mother's assistant will be provided to assist in the care of the children Additional financial support for the family is provided by the Father's House Center of Social Care (though the children may be unaware of this). The father's employment is an example of the 'bread-winner'. The father receives the financial support from the Center and these funds are added to the family budget. Before being accepted as foster parents in this program, parent candidates are screened and interviewed. Upon acceptance, they then take a course of study and go through a probationary period as tutors at the Center where they may get to know some of the future members of their family. When a new foster-family is created, they are provided with a five - room (four bedroom) apartment in the building of Father's House family program. The family pays for its utilities. Children learn about budgeting by planning and shopping together. They learn to cook, clean, to look after younger children and the importance of rest. Every family has its own garden plot where they can grow vegetables and to make preserves for the winter. ALSO: |
